Author:
Ingredients
  • 1 lb. fresh green beans, cleaned
  • 2 Tbls. oil (bacon fat, olive oil or melted butter/ghee are good choices with great flavor)
  • 1 lemon, cut into quarters
  • Seasoning mixture, mixed together:
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp. fresh, ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp. raw cane sugar
  • Asiago cheese, to grate and serve
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 450˚.
  2. When heated, place baking sheet in the oven for about 5 minutes. Do not oil the pan.
  3. Put green beans in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Drizzle with oil of your choice.
  5. Stir thoroughly to coat all the beans.
  6. Sprinkle green beans with the seasoning mixture and stir thoroughly, coating all the beans. (You may not want to use it all depending on your tastes.)
  7. Remove the pan from the oven and spread the green beans out onto the pan. It should sizzle if it’s hot enough.
  8. Return the pan to the oven and DO NOT leave the kitchen.
  9. Check the green beans every 5 minutes and stir around once they begin to brown.
  10. Remove from the oven when they are done to your liking. It could take anywhere from 10-20 minutes depending on your oven, the thickness of the green beans and your preference for how soft you want them. Try one when you feel like they may be done.
  11. Remove from the oven, place on serving dish.
  12. Squeeze lemon overtop of beans and grate cheese overtop to serve.
