Place in a baking dish making sure that the apples sit upright and stable. Trim the bottom flat if necessary
Fill each apple cavity with dried fruit.
Bake, covered, in preheated oven at 350˚ for about 30 minutes. Check frequently after 25 minutes for doneness. Apples should be soft but not mushy. Different varieties and sizes will take different baking times.
Remove from oven once soft. Drizzle with maple syrup {or honey} and serve with a side of whipped cream.
*Note, these apples stay hot for a long time because the skin holds in the heat. Removing them from the oven about 15 minutes before serving makes them the perfect eating temperature with the cool whipped cream.
